Lee recently took on a commission to paint a mural of a surfy scene down at The Longhouse, a lovely little bar and bistro at the side of the beach in Freshwater East.
Our last two Sundays have been spent working on the brightly coloured wall. I have done my bit too (although my contribution has been a bit like painting by numbers as Lee just gives me a colour and tells me where to splash it).
We have had lots of positive comments from lovely customers as we work and it really is coming together very nicely …

You must have seen those souvenir T-Shirts … you know the ones… ‘I ❤️ NY’, ‘I ❤️ Berlin’, ‘I ❤️ Barcelona’ etc? Well, a lovely young man we know has just started his own little convenience store in The Longhouse beach bar at Freshwater East. We just love small business and we also love Freshwater East, and so Lee has designed a really cool souvenir T-Shirt just for the shop. The unique ‘I ❤️ Fresh’ tee is available in both adult and child sizes and you can buy yours ONLY in Jack’s little shop.
Knitting machines are just so much damn fun! So far everything I have created has been on a standard gauge machine and I have been building myself up to learning how to use my chunky machine. I finally played with it last weekend and in no time at all created this cute little vest top right out of my head. I used a swatch, a bit of maths, a couple of rows of crochet and a hand knitted cherry appliqué. I blinkin’ love it and think it looks pretty good with my cherry necklace! Ooooooh and a very kind lady has just gifted me a third knitting machine … creations, creations, creations….
I always love the back story of a tattoo. A German tourist had spent her holiday walking the coastal path and on passing Lee’s studio noticed the sign was up that there was tattoo availability. She wanted a tattoo on her foot to symbolise her walk in West Wales.
I think this is so sweet…
So I adore Lee’s art. He is so just so wonderfully creative and so damn talented. However, every so often he produces something that I find a little bewildering. Just lately he has been bashing and polishing some of your regular type, kitchen silver foil. The finished hard silver ball even has a £1 coin buried deep in its heart (I’m not sure why). Lee tells me these balls can be created with absolutely anything held tightly in the centre and when one example he mentioned was cremated ashes I realised where my final destination is going to be!
I think they are crazy and Lee thinks they are cool … who are you standing with Lee or me?
Well … the cute yellow convertible has been branded! With all the miles I drive daily it seemed a waste of an advertising opportunity not to really! I have been thinking about it for a while and finally cut the vinyl lettering today! I was a little nervous about placing it on the car and so I gave Lee that honour, after all he has over 21 years of experience in placing important art and lettering in important places…
I love it … let me know if you spot me on the road!
One of our regular customers made a specific request for a hand poke tattoo. This cute little apple is the result and Lee enjoyed doing something a little different! Lee looks forward to doing some more hand poke if there are any customers who also desire this method for their ink.
