I have an blinkin’ awesome fabric stash! I have lots of vintage fabrics and gorgeous prints sourced from auctions, markets, and old ladies who no longer have use for them! I love so many of these fabrics but some were too small to really make anything much with.
However, a little while ago, I was gazing adoringly at some of the gorgeous blue prints, when a little image of a patchwork skirt design using lots of fabric scraps popped into my head. It had to be made … so I cut lots of odd shaped fabric pieces and set about stitching them all together to form one long piece of material. I then used my ruffled sewing machine foot to gently gather the top and added it to a teeny tiny denim mini skirt that I found (for a bargain £3) in a charity shop. I finished it off with some gorgeous Ric-Rac, which I have been desperate to find a use for since I joyfully picked it up at the stunning “Stone Store’ in Keri Keri in New Zealand last November.
Just looking at this skirt makes me feel happy …
