So…we have a little shop on Amazon (Handmade at Amazon section – which sadly doesn’t allow us to sell our quirky clothes and Tshirts yet) where we showcase some of our arty farty stuff. In the shop are some of our hand-painted and hand-appliquéd handbags and briefcases, and we also sell prints of Lee’s awesome artwork. Every print is strictly limited edition and with Elvis, Bowie and other icons we have lots on offer. However our top selling item in our shop is this awesome Doc Marten’s print which has been in high demand. Just recently one was bought as a wedding present for a couple of old skinheads. What an awesome wedding present huh?
I love that Lee’s artwork is displayed in homes all around the country. Lee thonks that like all good artists his art will probably be worth more when he is dead … I much prefer the thought of people enjoying his art whilst he is definitely alive and kicking (in his Doc Martens of course).
Oh and if you would like to order amy of Lee’s prints just drop us a message direct … it will save Amazon robbing us of 25% 😄
So … yesterday I was mostly creating little 6×4 greeting cards using Lee’s amazing Icon artwork. Originally the artwork was created for our Tshirts (£13) but we realised that they are also pretty cool in mounts (£15 for a mounted 10 x 12) or on blank greetings cards (£3). Each design has been hand drawn by Lee using an iconic image as inspiration, even the fonts on these have been hand drawn. My job is to trace and carefully vinyl cut each images. I blinking love them … what do you think?
I just finished this very sweet Marilyn shoulder bag. It’s so cute and has a little wrist strap so you can use it as a clutch too!
I absolutely love Marilyn … and if you do too then you can even have the Marilyn Tshirt from our Icon range to match the bag.
What more could a girl want … apart from diamonds of course!
We have been wanting to try our hand at designing Tshirts for some time. I finally purchased some heat-transfer vinyl and Lee has done a couple of cool designs.
He started with a Johnny Cash because he is our favourite, and Lee also created a Hendrix design.
Lee can see all the images perfectly clearly but my brain can’t see the white Cash on the black Tshirt, or the black Hendrix on the white Tshirt. I’m really interested in what you all can see?
Of course are just our prototypes. We are going to do a bit of design tweaking and a wash/wear test, and then will be producing some ready to sell. The price is likely to be a very reasonable £13, and for a unique Trashcan Emporium design I think that’s pretty bargainous!
We need to decide who else belongs in our Icon range and so are running a free competition to help us decide.
To enter … just share our post then comment/tweet your Icon suggestion. If your Icon is chosen by us to go into the design stage then your name goes in the hat, and on 31st October the first name out will win a unique Trashcan Emporium Tshirt emblazoned with their Icon suggestion.
Do tell us your ideas …
After transforming our cloakroom into a Ramones toilet, complete with Joey Ramone bobblehead, I got the Silhouette Cameo out today, and I have now created a Johnny Cash bathroom.
Both Lee and I adore The Man in Black and I danced up the aisle on our wedding day to “Darlin’Companion.” I also have such wonderful childhood memories of my lovely Daddy playing the ‘Live at San Quentin’ album as I was growing up. Also two of my sons love him too. Yep … Cash is pretty special to me!
So I spent the afternoon cutting, sticking and singing along to “Daddy Sang Bass” … and I just completely love the end result!
If you’d like the idea for your own bathroom I can create a decal about the music or movie icon of your choice of course …
