Sometimes a fabric calls my name and this beautiful blue poly-cotton, with a vintage sewing machine print, shouted ‘buy me buy me’ very loudly indeed. A lovely customer in the ThreadShed last summer made a half circle skirt out of the fabric initially but there was plenty left for this gorgeous sash blouse just for me. I used a New Look pattern which was a fairly simple pattern to follow and one I would definitely recommend to any newish sewist. The pattern is multi sized from size 10-20 so if anyone would like to book into The ThreadShed and make a similar blouse under my expert support and guidance then just drop me a message!
Some yummy mummies visited The ThreadShed Fresh East for an “Art Farty Sew Your Own Skirt” workshop this week. They were holidaying in the area and left the husbands and kids to their own devices in order to enjoy some happy sewing time together. The mummies, who were long time friends, chose absolutely beautiful prints to make their half circle skirts. I loved spending time with these happy, chatty, funny ladies, who were delighted to learn how to insert a zip, make a button hole and attach a waistband. Both their skirts were sewn so beautifully and I was blinkin’ delighted that one mummy sewed her skirt on my newly serviced Singer Capri from the 1970s which sings like a dream.
It really was a great day and the perfect way for good friends to spend some quality time together. I am hoping that the ladies are inspired to continue sewing and they have promised to send me photos of any future creations.
An Arty Farty workshop is a really great way to spend some time learning new skills, so why not book a sewing experience in The ThreadShed Fresh East and share it with a good friend of yours?
