Happy wine list …

We decided to have food in the pub over in the next village tonight. George, the landlord of The Dial at Lamphey, is a bit of an art and history connoisseur and his inn  has great food and lots of interesting art and curios.  Pembroke is the birthplace of the Tudors and the inn has three huge Tudor portraits of Henry VII, his wife Elizabeth of York and his mother Margaret Beaufort, proudly displayed over the fire place.

George commissioned Lee to paint three new portraits and these now appear in the bar panels.

Clever Lee created his own quirky version of the original Tudor portraits by giving each painting an intriguing twist.

The portraits of Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor and Diana Dors all now grace the Dial bar dressed as Tudors.

Tonight Lee was so completely delighted to find the story of the commission told on the back of the wine list tonight.

You know you’ve made it when your art appears on a posh wine list huh?
