The Husband was itching to start a new piece of art but wasn’t sure what to paint. Oooh says me, why not do a posh portrait of us, you know, inspired by something that would hang in the National Portrait Gallery but with our faces. I am not sure what I had in mind really. However, I should know by now that The Husband is gonna be thinking rather differently to me.
When Lee showed me the iconic artwork by Grant Wood called American Gothic I realised immediately that this wonderful work, depicting a farmer and his daughter in Iowa, was absolutely perfect for this rather delicious vanity project.
Over the last weeks I have watched this painting take shape in utter awe. I completely adore this stunning painting. Damn that man is talented!
Sooooo…. I will say nothing further and simply reveal to you the magnificent and wonderful, beautifully parodied, Pembroke Gothic.
