Recycle Upcycle …

We have become such a throwaway society. Clothes arrive and leave our wardrobes in a matter of months or weeks, or sometimes just hang there, brand new, with tags still on them. It doesn’t have to be this way! Get yourself down to your local charity shop and about the rails for some bargains which can be repurposed. Let me introduce you to this pure wool “Eastex Heritage” coat with wonderful vintage buttons – my 50p charity shop bargain! Warm and cosy, it just needed a little glamorising. Add in a fur collar and cuffs (from a £1.99 charity shop cardigan a couple of sizes too big) and I have myself a unique, high quality, glamorous coat for just pennies!

So let’s all do our bit for the environment. Why not recycle and upcycle beautiful clothes, and enjoy the wonderment of who has lived and loved in the clothes previously! Oh and if you see something you love but it doesn’t quite fit then I can very likely help!

Knitting for All Illustrated

A kind friend gifted me a wonderful and much loved knitting book, inherited after the sad death of an elderly aunt. The book is undated but Mrs Google believes it was printed back in the 1940s or 1950s. The knitting patterns are simply wondrous with photos of each gorgeous pattern accompanying the simple to read instructions. I was so excited to start knitting from the book. There is everything knitted from stockings and bras for ladies, to some mad hats, to a “fashionable” housecoat. . After a delightful nostalgic ponder I decided to start with this Two Colour Turban, using old money size 10 pins previously used by my knit-loving mam, (who needs 3.25 metric pins huh) but I’m really having a little giggle to myself thinking that maybe my next knitting project from the book should be this vest and pants set for The Husband ❤️

Wear your art on your Tee …

I absolutely love adding a few new T-Shirt designs to our collection! Brother-in-law came to visit this weekend and is a fan of the ‘old skool’ Tattoo style art. We found some great pieces in Lee’s drawing book in and I was able to add them onto some T-shirts for him to take back to London. Inspired by the new designs I decided it was time to make myself a new Tee too and used Lee’s flaming heart and dagger drawing that I received as my Valentine Gift this year. Instead of wearing my heart on my sleeve I can now wear it on my Tee.

Don’t forget any of Lee’s art you admire can also be added to a Tee and of course will proudly bear our unique ‘Trashcan Emporium’ label.

We also have a pretty good selection of arty Tees in the studio at the mo so why not stop by and wear your art on your Tee too!

Cartoonize Your Doggy …

After the recent cartoonizing of the very handsome George I soon had another request to cartoonize another lovely pup.  Myla, a 4 month old Golden Retriever is the latest doggy addition to our dog loving family, and is owned by Daughter and Boyfriend.  Myla is one adorable little pup and I was delighted to cartoonize her.  I so enjoyed transforming Myla into a Pink Retriever but Daughter was determined that Myla should only be cartoonized as golden, being a Golden Retriever and all that.  I did have such fun with Myla’s gorgeous image and I am really delighted as how the cartoons came out.  I love how vivid and golden she is and of course that soulful expression pulls on the heart strings.  Sublimated onto a black Tee Myla looks absolutely stunning and I also popped her cartoon onto a little black rucksack for when she goes on doggy play dates or sleep overs.

If you would also like to cartoonize your doggy (or moggy), onto a bag or a Tee or whatever, then I’m your gal, and you really don’t need to keep your Golden Retriever golden, your Chocolate Lab chocolate or your Red Setter red either …
